Who says dogs aren’t people, too??
I spent the morning making treats for Sarah’s “best friend”, Daisy. Daisy, as you might have guessed, is Sarah’s dog. She’s a big, goofy, overly friendly Doberman with loads of charm and a sweet face that pulls at your heart strings. Well deserving of a bag of goodies, don’t you agree?
So while I was baking I got to thinking (and trust me, that’s painful at my age). Why not share my recipe for Bubba’s Dog Biscuits with all of you? So I will. Why, you may reasonably ask, are they Bubba’s and not Daisy’s Dog Biscuits? Because the recipe comes to all of us via my older brother Scott and his best friend, Bubba!
Thanks, Scott!
Bubba’s Dog Biscuits
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup milk (plus perhaps a bit more to make a nice, soft dough)
1 cup peanut butter
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly to make a soft but not sticky dough. Feel free to adjust with a little more milk, a little more flour as needed to accomplish that. Go easy, though! You don’t want to end up with cardboard! Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4″ thickness. Cut with your favorite simple cookie cutter…I used a dog bone shape here. Bake at 375 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until lightly browned and firm. Watch them the last few minutes! They can go from golden brown and delicious to burned to a crisp in a short time! Cool them on a rack and store them in an air tight container for up to a month. The recipe makes about 45 treats, depending on the size of your cutter.
Doggie kisses all around!
