This Is What Happens When You Love To Bake
I was cleaning up the kitchen after our weekend’s baking extravaganza and found a couple scraped vanilla beans and some left over “caviar” in a bowl. Not wanting to waste such a precious resource, I put the caviar in a small stoppered tube with a little vodka to keep it viable and stuffed the pods down into a jar of sugar so they would perfume and flavor it for a batch of sugar cookies down the road.
“Good”, I thought to myself. “Waste not, want not.” Plus? My hands smelled heavenly!
That was sort of the problem.
I found myself sniffing my fingers all morning. Even after a couple of hand-washings the aroma of fresh vanilla was still there. *sniffsniff*, *sniffsniff*. It got to be like a bad copy of a Saturday Night Live skit!
Hopefully no one saw me and started thinking of Molly Shannon!
